Update from the Parish Council - the Parish Council has contacted Charlotte Cane (MP)'s Office to ask for her support.  We hope that Charlotte, along with County Councillor Jonny Edge will write a joint letter to Post Office Ltd to query the lack of consultation, and call for them to find another postmaster. We will of course do whatever we can to protect our Post Office. Please do take the time to sign the petition, every name matters.

Message from the Ellesmere Centre 09.02.2026

As some of you may be aware the post mistress has sadly decided to retire from the post office after a long spell in hospital. We would like to wish her all the very best for her ongoing recovery. She will be greatly missed.

In light of this we have contacted the Post Office and they have informed us of their intention to permanently close our Post Office.

Closing our village community post office would be a real loss, not just for postal services but for the life of the whole village. It’s far more than a place to send letters or collect parcels — it’s a hub that brings people into the shop and the centre, helping to support local businesses and keep the village active. For many elderly residents in particular, the post office is a vital asset, providing independence, regular social contact, and access to essential services close to home. It also serves as an important resource for people in the surrounding villages. Removing it would leave some of the most vulnerable members of our community isolated and would weaken the heart of the village itself.

SAVE OUR POST OFFICE

There is now a petition in the shop if you wish to sign to show your support and to let the post office know how crucial this facility is to our village and wider community.

Signing the petition to stop the closure of our village post office is an important step in protecting a service that matters to all of us, both now and for future generations. By adding your name, you are helping to show how strongly people value this vital village asset and sending a clear message that it deserves to remain at the heart of our community for years to come.

Did you know the Mobile Library comes to Stetchworth every month……..

Mobile libraries help more people to use Cambridgeshire Libraries' services. Mobile libraries can be a lifeline for people who can't get to a static library. Each vehicle carries up to 3,000 items of stock. This includes fiction, non-fiction, large print, books on CD and cassette, and children's books.

It’s a great place for catching up with friends and colleagues whilst supporting a local community resource. Our three mobile libraries make over 400 stops at around 100 villages and communities each month. We visit most locations once a month, on the same time and day of the week each month.

Please support the mobile library each month:

Location Jubilee Court, Stetchworth, CB8 9UA

Visits The 3rd Wednesday of the month from 2:25 pm - 3:00 pm

If there are any matters which you would like Councillors to discuss at a meeting, please write to, or email the Clerk using the contact details on ourContact Us page.
